Candelight Vinyasa is a blend of slower-moving asana (physical poses) and relaxation in a candlelit room. Class begins by guiding students gently into postures and breathing at a slower pace, using props as needed to stretch, strengthen and balance. The second half eases the body into a calming release through restorative poses using props and breath; inviting the mind to grow quiet as you move towards a state of equilibrium. The focus is on easeful movement, breath and reducing stress.

This class is open to all levels of practice. Our Foundations class sets the foundation for our Vinyasa Flow and is strongly recommended if you have never practiced yoga before, but it is also a wonderful way to relearn the basics if you have been practicing for a while. Expect to move at a slower pace and to learn how to safely get in and out of poses, to learn the names of yoga poses as well as basic vinyasa.
The pelvis. It’s the center of our bodies, but it’s rarely the center of attention. In fact, this area is often hidden away in shame, since its functions are considered “taboo”. During the childbearing years, we might hear about the importance of the pelvic floor, but no one really teaches us about it. So much goes on in our pelvic bowl, which is home to our bowel, bladder and organs of reproductive and sexual function. The pelvis is also a major hub of musculoskeletal activity, connecting our upper and lower body and helping to coordinate our movements. And energetically, it’s our root of safety, abundance, and grounded connection.
Come learn about the physical and energetic anatomy of the female pelvis, and how to connect to this powerful source of physical strength and intuition. We will discuss the structure and function of the pelvic bones, muscles, and organs, and then go deeper into the energy held within the pelvic space. Reconnecting to this sacred space that gives life to our physical and energetic creations will help you to feel more grounded and more connected to yourself and the world around you.
This is our 90 minute vinyasa flow for all levels of practice, for all yogis :) In addition, this class also has a second teacher assisting the practice and giving hands-on adjustments (which are, as always optional). You will have the opportunity in class at the beginning to anonymously opt out any time you are not interested in having hands on assists that class. Why do we assist? Typically, hands-on assists are to simply feel good. Other times we assist to correct alignment or to gently assist a yogi to get deeper into a pose. So, if we come to you, don't think you are doing anything wrong!
In need of a wind down?
Come relax and restore your mind, body and spirit through a slow moving series of restorative postures. Jill, our resident reiki master, will offer reiki to those you would like it at the end of class, reiki can also be delivered to those joining us online.
